OFFICIAL RULES 2023
Official rules and conditions of the 11th Edition of the FCI Costa del Sol International Derby 2023
The FCI Costa del Sol International Derby celebrates its tenth edition in the year 2023 and takes place
as a sporting event in the discipline of pigeon racing. It is located in Malaga, in the heart of the Costa del Sol,
very close to Malaga International Airport and only a few minutes away from the famous beaches of Malaga.
province. The new loft was inaugurated in 2017 under the most modern criteria and adapted to
the highest demands of the best international Derbys. Derby’s capacity in these facilities
reaches 2,500 pigeons, run by a team of experts in the training and care of pigeons.
pigeons with the leading feed brands PET CUP, BONYFARMA and VANHEE supplements.
All the races can be followed online via our website (www.derbycostadelsol.com) and
(www.benzingoneloftrace.live) all the baskets and races will be made public in near real time, in a
effort to show transparency and participant service. All baskets are open to any
pigeon fancier who wants to attend them, as long as the sanitary measures allow it.

published for information purposes. The organisers of the Derby reserve the right to modify the content of the Derby or to
rectify any point of these Rules up to the days before the closing date of the registration period
(detailed below), with appropriate notification to all registrants. The organisation of the Derby
shall not be held responsible for any theft or accidents that may occur during the celebration of the events.
scheduled. The Derby will be closed once all the auctions of the pigeons that have been auctioned have
reach the final. The Derby reserves the right of admission, both of participants and pigeons, as well as the right of admission to the Derby
and to admit the participation and award prizes to those pigeon fanciers whose licence is in force
at the time of the Derby races. All prizes and the percentages of the
sale of the pigeons at auction shall be subject to the taxes and deductions in force at any given time
and in each country, and the participant shall be responsible for the payment of these taxes. They will also be
delivered according to the deadline of the FCI regulations once the Derby is closed.
The following is a description of the registration process for the Derby Costa del Sol, a pigeon race under the current regulations of the Spanish Royal Pigeon Fanciers Federation
(RFCE) and according to the release plan attached to these Rules. The mere fact of sending pigeons to the
Derby or the provision of personal data to the organisation for the specific purpose of registration,
already implies the tacit acceptance that the pigeon fancier is participating in this sporting event corresponding to the
Sport of Pigeon Fanciers. Each fancier can enter as many pigeons as he/she wants, being one
team consisting of 5 pigeons plus 5 reserve pigeons. The entry fee is 120 € per pigeon,
i.e. at the time of registration, the participant shall pay 600 € for a team of 10 pigeons (5
activated and 5 in reserve). Reserve pigeons are sent at a cost of 120 € and must be activated up to 48
hours after the release time of the Semi-Final at a value of 120 € per pigeon. If it is decided not to activate
the reservation, it will be put on an activation list, remaining free and can be paid by anyone else
participant, at a cost of 160€/pigeon, who will be able to activate the pigeon from the list before the basketing of the
Final. In this way, the first owner would lose the right to the prize and this right would be awarded to the
activating participant, although the latter would not have a share of the auction. The same applies
to the scoring for the FCI Ranking: the scoring right passes to the participant who activates it,
as long as he/she has a valid FCI licence at the time of the races. The rights of the
pigeons that have not been activated either by their owner or in the Free Activation period will be 100%
of the Derby and the Organisation will keep the full amount of the auction of these pigeons, as well as
the totality of the cash prizes obtained. Participation is open to
national and international pigeons which must have RFCE or FCI-approved rings of the year 2023.
The registration period is from 1 March to 30 June, with 30 June
being the last day for payment for registered pigeons. As from 30 June, the Derby Organisation will
publish on its official website those teams from which it has received payment and report to the FCI the
teams from which it has received the pigeons but has not received payment. Registration will only be
valid through the official agents listed on the Derby Costa del Sol website. In case of not
specifying the reserve rings, the Organisation will automatically activate the pigeons
in ascending order, from the lowest to the highest ring number. There are two ways to pay the registration fee: by bank transfer to the account number indicated on the Derby website. In order to
consider the payment by transfer as valid, it will be obligatory to indicate in the concept of the transfer the number of
the rings that are being activated. The list of accredited agents are exclusively those who
appear on the web (www.derbycostadelsol.com). The registration of a participant will not be valid if he/she has not
provided us with: name and surname, identity card number, valid number of rings for each
pigeon, title of ownership of each pigeon, name of the team, person responsible for the team, with
telephone number and e-mail address verifiable by the Derby Organisers. The Organisation reserves the right to refuse a registration for not having the actual contact details of a
participant. The responsible person will be responsible for the full payment of the entry fee under the conditions indicated,
as well as the ultimate beneficiary of the prizes in the event that he/she wins them during the course
of the competition. Any participant may request a certificate of registration from the
Derby organisers. The entire registration process is detailed in the registration section of the web site and
shall be valid whichever is indicated in that section from time to time.

The prize money is calculated on the basis of a total of 1,750 activated pigeons. The final amount of each
of the prizes will be confirmed and published on the official Derby website after the end
of the booking activation period, detailed in section 2 (Registration). Unactivated pigeons and
those awarded as prizes in the previous edition do not count for prizes. In the case of
enlargement, as well as in the case that the number of pigeons indicated
above is not reached, it will be enlarged or reduced as a percentage of the number of
registered pigeons. The table of prizes attached to these Rules lists all the prize categories with their
corresponding amounts. The first prize for the finalist is 20.000 €, with the AS Paloma Absolute
being awarded 7.000 €. The semi-final and the 120, 152, 178, 180, 210, 250
km races are also awarded. The AS Pigeon Absolute prize will be awarded to the pigeon with the best
score of the following races: 1 race of 400 km, 1 race of 250 km, 1 race of 210 km, 1
race of 180 km, 1 race of 178 km, 1 race of 152 km and 1 race of 120 km. The amount of the
published prizes will be in gross. Therefore, the taxes and deductions in force at any given time and
in any given country shall be borne by the participant.
-
All the pigeons that arrive in the Final will be auctioned in the following way: the Derby Costa del Sol
will award 40% of the final auction price to the participant. Photography and management fees are included,
as indicated in the auction rules published on the website. Obviously, only the
amount described above can be paid to the participant for those pigeons collected after the auction has taken place and
the Derby orgnisers will pay this amount no later than 30 days after the end of the auctions. This
amount is subject to the legal withholding taxes in force at any given time and in each country. The Derby will be
closed once all the auctions of the pigeons that reach the final have finished. Regarding the pedigrees:
in order for the document to be considered valid, at least the four grandparents of the
pigeon must be shown and it is compulsory that they are in the possession of the Derby Organisation before the semi-final in order to
be entitled to the participant’s share in the subsequent auction of the pigeons. The participant
can send us this documentation together with the pigeons or by e-mail to
info@derbycostadelsol.com or through the other usual channels. Failure to deliver these documents would result in
the loss of the right to acquire the proportionate share of the auction described above. The publication of
the pigeons in the auction will be repeated only once for those pigeons that have not been bid for or in
cases where the winner of the bid does not make the payment according to the conditions stipulated on the
auction website. In the event that the pigeons are not auctioned after the second publication, the Derby organisers
will find a way to sell them, but the participant will lose the
corresponding percentage of the pigeon.
The owner of the pigeons will have to vaccinate and deworm them before sending them. The organisation
reserves the right not to accept pigeons that are not suitable for the sport. Once
they have been sent, the organisation will have the pigeons re-vaccinated by the official
veterinarians of the Derby. The organisation shall have the right and duty to quarantine birds
coming from countries where diseases or viruses such as Salmonella, Paramyxo (PMV) or
Avian Influenza are present.
